Omanu School has a great sense of "community". Staff, parents and children work together to ensure that we provide for "excellence in the academic, cultural, physical and social education of children".
While literacy and numeracy are the focus of learning, our school curriculum offers a balanced education. Developing learning skills that encourage inquiry, the use of ICT skills and problem solving forms the basis of school wide teaching and learning strategies.
“We want our children to be well informed ... we want them to have the desire and ability to ask questions, to think analytically and critically, to be able to speculate and imagine, to see connections among ideas ... and to be able to use what they know to enhance their own lives and contribute to their community” (Eisner).
Addressing on-going change in our educational setting is essential. It is important to embrace the ’now’ - but reflect upon the good things we want to hold onto, in a rapidly changing world. Omanu kids are great kids.
There are strong expectations from everyone for good positive behaviour, ensuring that there are learning opportunities for all within a happy and supportive environment.
